Kent State won the toss and took the ball. Then showed why.
Behind some nice runs by quarterback Julian Edelman, and a pair of double-digit runs by Eugene Jarvis, the Golden Flashes drove 80 yards in 10 plays to take a 7-0 lead.
The scoring play came on a fake field goal. Edelman, the holder, took the ball, faked an option pitch to kicker Nate Reed, then drove into the end zone.
Early thought — it might take until Tuesday to finish next Saturday’s rivalry game.
