Cats should be ranked

The rankings are still a few hours away, but there’s not much question in my mind, after beating the University of Louisville last night in Commonwealth Stadium, UK should be somewhere in the Top 25 this week.

It should be.

I have my doubts as to whether UK will crack the Associated Press poll, simply because of its lack of votes there last week. I’m pretty confident it will make the ESPN-USA Today coaches’ poll.

Because of the shifting ground of college football this season, these polls should be more fluid than they have been in the past. There seems to be a greater early season “sorting out” this year than we’ve seen in some time. Voters ought to be willing to make corrections in the polls quickly. We’ll see if they are.

UK now has won eight out of nine. Three of those wins have come against programs that have been ranked at some point this season. Now comes a win over a top 10 team.

I think it’s a pretty easy call.
