Davis called them the “Tackling Optional Cardinals” in a teaser to their segment and called their 2-2 start “an unmitigated disaster.”
Analyst Mark May said: “It’s refreshing to see a coach from a major program step up and take responsibility. The problem is not with the offense. It’s the defense. Defensive coordinator Mike Cassity is a holdover from the Bobby Petrino regime. They’re out of position, they can’t tackle, they take bad angles, they blow assignments and they don’t get any pressure on. . . . It’s embarrassing for this program.”
Said Lou Holtz: “They snapped a 20-game winning streak at home. If you’re going to have a good football team, they seniors must play the best football of their career. . . .
