Harry Douglas is at today’s game, but likely will not play, according to U of L football contact Rocco Gasparro.
U of L coach Steve Kragthorpe had said for most of this week that he expected Douglas to be ready to play.
Defensive end Peanut Whitehead did not make the trip, Gasparro said, while dealing with a family concern.
Whitehead’s loss probably won’t be too noticeable, unless injuries along the defensive front come into play. Count him among the handful of returning defenders who seem to have regressed.
But Douglas’ loss could be interesting. Harry is accounting for 40 percent of the team’s passing yardage, and probably an even higher percentage of third-down conversion receptions. Someone else will have to be the go-to guy, which is why Mario Urrutia may be back in the starting lineup.
