WVU 21, U of L 7

West Virginia goes back up by two TDs on a 12-play, 69-yard drive. The big play was a 32-yard pass from Pat White to Darius Reynaud. The ball was underthrown and Reynaud did a nice job coming back and jumping over U of L’s Bobby Buchanan.

A bit curious as to why Buchanan, a converted safety, was checking West Virginia’s best receiver.

Regardless, the Mountaineers did it without doing anything fancy. Just their basic running plays. And on 4th and goal from the one, Steve Slaton went in untouched thanks to fullback Owen Schmitt blowing up what looked like the entire left side of the U of L line.

The Cardinal offense comes back out, and here’s a prediction.

If the U of L offense keeps holding serve and scoring, the U of L defense — thin as it is — will do enough to give the Cardinals a chance to win.
