Art Carmody hits from 32 yards out to put U of L on the board after the Cards stall on 3rd and 10, settling for a short completion to George Stripling.
U of L had man-to-man coverage on Harry Douglas on the wide side of the field, but instead of running Douglas toward the wide side where he’d be isolated, the route called for him to slant to the right, into the rest of the coverage. Things were so clogged up deep that Brohm had no choice but to dump the ball off.
South Florida was clearly aware of U of L’s penchant for hitting the tight end in those situations.
It’s a big series for the U of L defense. A repeat of the last one and it could be a very long night.
