On the front of NFL.com’s draft web page, there’s a video segment of analysts from the NFL Network interviewing San Francisco 49ers assistant and former Chicago Bears great Mike Singletary, who was putting defensive players through their paces in the week leading up to the game.
Singletary mentioned only one player he worked with all week by name.
University of Kentucky linebacker Wesley Woodyard.
Here’s what Singletary had to say, and you can see the video here (his comments about Woodyard are at the end.)
“I really did like him. He’s a smaller guy, a little bit thinner, a little bit of a ‘tweener, I guess you would say, going to be a strong safety, an end, however it’s going to work. I’m just really excited about a kid that’s willing to come out and work. And for me, everything I asked him to do he was willing to do, and that’s exciting to see. So hopefully he has a future, because I think he can play.”
