Cards up 11

Rick Pitino is 7-0 in Sweet 16 games. He has won all of them by double digits. Average margin: 20 points. His teams have now taken double-digit leads in the first half of all of them, as the Cards surge to an 11-point lead.

If they weren’t turning the ball over so much, it would be larger.

It’s sloppy on both sides. UT hasn’t found its rhythm at all, and is struggling with the Cards’ press.

Now it’s a TV time after another turnover by Tennessee, this time by point guard J.P. Prince.

U of L’s early threes from Andre McGee and Jerry Smith are huge, because they force Tennessee to extend defensively and should yield more opportunities in the post and on back-door cuts.

A stat you might be overlooking: is dominating the rebounding battle 11-3. Tennessee hasn’t grabbed a single offensive rebound.

UT may have a problem. But shooting can overcome a lot of those.
