We’re just minutes from kickoff in Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
U of L will be without L.T. Walker, Chris Vaughn, Darius Mann, Scott Long. All are out with injuries. Vaughn was back in a boot after last week’s game against UK. He’d had an ankle injury heading into the game.
Also, Chris Campa will move into the starting lineup at weak-side linebacker, replacing Antwon Canady.
It’ll be a more challenging game for the U of L defense. Tennessee Tech will test them more through the air than UK did. But it’s the U of L offense that everyone will be watching today. Tennessee Tech runs a 3-4, which not many college teams run anymore. They’ll come after quarterback Hunter Cantwell early and often.
The key will be defeating the blitz with the run.
The crowd is filling in, so I won’t make an estimate yet. Looks from the parking lot like it will be a decent crowd. With one exception — the parking lot directly behind the stadium, the one in front of the caboose clubhouses, had many empty spaces. That’s a lot you don’t want to see being sparse, if you’re U of L. Those spots represent a lot of money. Could be, however, that they’re just late arrivals.
Regardless, its’ Game 2, and we should learn a lot more about where the season should be headed this afternoon.
