Rod Council sentenced to 8 years

Former University of Louisville cornerback Rod Council was sentenced to eight years in prison by a U.S. District Court, according to the Asheville (N.C.) Citizen-Times.

Council was found guilty of holding a weapon that looked like an Uzi to the head of a convenience store clerk in Asheville and robbing the store of $200 on Feb. 20 of this year. Council was a starter for the U of L football team, but was kicked off the team after the arrest. He had left campus, he told coaches, to attend to a family matter.
