Gordon says drugs wrecked IU's season

Eric Gordon, in an interview with the Indinapolis Star’s Jeff Rabjohns, says that drug use created a rift among Indiana University basketball players last season.

It’s the second significant drug story to be outed in the last couple of months. The other was at North Texas, where the football coach acknowledged that a number of his players had tested positive for recreational drugs and he was handling it internally.

In both cases, we’ve had individuals speaking openly. At U of L, where it has been alluded to on the periphery with regard to the football program in the past, coaches and administrators have declined to speak openly or specifically about any alleged conduct, as have former players when contacted.

But that’s not the point of this.

The point is that Gordon, the former IU standout, spoke candidly, and the comments are worth a look at this link.

Current coach Tom Crean cited privacy laws in declining to comment. Dan Dakich also refused to comment.
