Courtside at Freedom Hall, next to Brett Dawson, with Rick Bozich and C.L. Brown up the way, and we’re less than 20 minutes from tipoff for the Cards and Cats in Freedom Hall.
This is one of the more interesting matchups between the teams in years. They’d appear pretty comparable, but U of L has played badly in losing two of its past three, and UK has fed on a diet of cupcakes in the past couple of weeks.
I was the only C-J writer to pick the Cats this morning, and I did so because I think Patrick Patterson is too much for U of L freshman Samardo Samuels and Jodie Meeks is more dependable than any outside shooter U of L has.
But U of L could well bother the turnover-prone Wildcats with tough ball pressure, though I think people discount how much UK gets after you on defense. UK actually is the more physical team.
U of L, which does have more overall talent, still will have to play its best game of the season to win.
