Cards surging

U of L has opened a 50-37 lead in the first six minutes of the second half, and it has done it behind the dogged defense of Andre McGee. The senior has been causing havoc for the Morehead State backcourt, has two strip-steals which have led to five points, and has in general given the Cards the energy boost they needed to put together what has become a habit — a major run to start the second half.

McGee is dogging Morehead point guard Brandon Shingles relentlessly. I counted four fouls that weren’t called on him on one defensive possession — which shows aggressiveness, if nothing else. U of L has scored on 7 of 10 second-half possessions, and on their last six.
