My column for Sunday from the UK-U of L game will be rated PG. Steve Kragthorpe was a little spicy in his postgame. He lectured reporters not to say anything bad about Trent Guy (I don’t think anybody was about to.) And in general worked the word “ass” into his comments about six times, but noted that “ass” does appear in the Bible.
I concluded that I doubt he’ll get an Amen from the congregation after this loss, even though the players left room for hope.
We saw an option toss on fourth and 1 in the first half, and Justin Burke explained that it was a two-call deal on the line. As I understand it, the option play was the call. Burke could have checked out of it, but didn’t.
After that, I asked him to elaborate and he said he thought his real mistake was not keeping the ball himself on the option, that him ducking it inside and running probably had a better shot than the pitch back to Powell.
Regardless, it was the low point of what was otherwise a decently called game by Kragthorpe (with the exception of red zone stuff, which Kragthorpe himself took the blame for).
That’s about it.
