Getting a lot of U of L fans asking what’s the holdup with Charlie Strong becoming the next Cardinal football coach.
Are these the same people who thought Jurich moved too soon in hiring the last coach?
The fact is that Strong, by all accounts, is a deliberate person. Moreover, he has been involved in a couple of events in his home state of Arkansas that has added time to the proceedings, and is also involved, certainly, with discussions on how things will be worked out with his present employer — whether that would be a counter-offer or negotiations on how he would handle things leading up to Florida’s appearance in the Sugar Bowl.
It’s not a big deal. There should be no rush on the part of U of L, Jurich or Strong. Because even if Strong takes until the end of the week to make a decision, it’s still a process that will have been completed more quickly than most Division I searches (see Kansas, Notre Dame, etc.)
One mistake that people shouldn’t make is equating a deliberate process with Strong’s desire for or against Louisville. As far as I know, he’s never seen the campus or facilities here.
I’m still looking for something to be announced in the next day or so, but if it isn’t, I don’t think too much should be read into it.
