Some nice TV exposure is coming for the UK-U of L football rivalry. U of L announced today that the season-opener for both teams will kick off at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 4 (a Saturday) and be televised by ABC.
The game will be the first in the newly expanded Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, which will grow from 42,000 to better than 55,000 seats, with 33 new luxury suites and 1,700 new club seats.
It will be the first broadcast network coverage in the history of the football rivalry. But it isn’t exactly a national telecast. It is part of a three-way regional lineup for ABC that includes UCLA-Kansas State and Connecticut at Michigan.
Oh, and the exposure comes when the game is the season opener for both teams. Just saying.
