Congrats to former University of Louisville distance runner Wesley Korir, who will throw out the first pitch in tonight’s 10:10 p.m. game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and L.A. Angels of Anaheim in Dodger Stadium.
Korir has won the past two runnings of the L.A. Marathon.
He’s one of the more devout and dedicated athletes I’ve ever run across. He’s passionate about his faith, and one of the things he hopes to accomplish in life is to build an orphanage in his Kenyan hometown. When a running magazine recently found out that he eats a six-inch Subway tuna sandwich before every race, they tried to make a big deal out of it.
Korir’s quote: “I don’t get my power and running ability from Subway but from God.”
